DTC P0705-13: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit Open; DTC P0705-62: Transmission Range Sensor "A" Signal Compare Failure [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the F76 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F76-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F76-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the F76 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F76-4 (B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F76-4 (B) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the F76 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (B) - 5 (L) Shift lever in P or N Below 1 Ω
      6 (PL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever in P Below 1 Ω
      1 (RL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever in R Below 1 Ω
      9 (NL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever in N Below 1 Ω
      7 (DL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever in D or M Below 1 Ω
      4 (B) - 5 (L) Shift lever not in P or N 10 kΩ or higher
      6 (PL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever not in P 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (RL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever not in R 10 kΩ or higher
      9 (NL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever not in N 10 kΩ or higher
      7 (DL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever not in D or M 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the F67 ECM connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F67-64 (P) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever in P
      11 to 14 V
      F67-35 (R) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever in R
      11 to 14 V*
      F67-65 (N) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever in N
      11 to 14 V
      F67-34 (D) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever in D or M
      11 to 14 V
      F67-64 (P) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever not in P
      Below 1 V
      F67-35 (R) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever not in R
      Below 1 V
      F67-65 (N) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever not in N
      Below 1 V
      F67-34 (D) - Body ground
      • Engine switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever not in D or M

      HINT: 

      *: The voltage will drop slightly due to the turning on of the back up light.

  5. REPLACE ECM 
    1. Replace the ECM.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ]

    PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION. Refer to  REGISTRATION [10/2015 - ] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the F76 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A82 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F76-4 (B) - A82-57 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F76-4 (B) or A82-57 (NSW) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM)

  7. REPLACE ECM
