Removal [11/2017 - ]: Procedure

DRAIN ENGINE OIL
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [11/2017 - 11/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 [11/2021 - ]
REMOVE FAN SHROUD ASSEMBLY
Refer to REMOVAL [11/2017 - ]
REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT
Refer to REMOVAL [11/2017 - ]

REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET (for AWD)

Remove the nut, bolt and oil filter bracket.

REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

Using SST, loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt.

Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 2 or 3 threads of the crankshaft.

Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley.

HINT:

Apply grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) prior to use.

REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR KEY

Remove the crankshaft timing gear key of the key groove.

REMOVE TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, pry out the timing chain case oil seal.

NOTE:

After the removal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
