Speed Signal Circuit [10/2014 - 09/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. *1: except 8 Speakers

      *2: for 8 Speakers

      *3: w/ Rain Sensor

      *4: w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the I38*1 or I121*2 radio receiver assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the I53 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    4. Disconnect the I56 windshield wiper relay assembly connector*3.
    5. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    6. Disconnect the I40 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector*4.
    7. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      I10-19 (+S) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 4.5 to 14 V

      Result

  2. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY

    3. Disconnect the I53 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    4. Disconnect the I56 windshield wiper relay assembly connector*3.
    5. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    6. Disconnect the I40 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector*4.
    7. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (INPUT WAVEFORM) 
    1. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.

    2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal I10-20 (SI) and body ground.
    3. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Tool Setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
      Vehicle Condition Driving at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph)

      HINT: 

      When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by A in the illustration narrows.
