Removal [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2015 - ] ).

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter (Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [09/2015 - ] ).
      NOTE:

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      HINT: 

      Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    3. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - ] ).

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera)

  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) 

    See step  7

  8. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  8

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  10

  11. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Loosen bolt A and remove bolt B, then slide the steering sliding with shaft yoke.

      • Do not remove bolt A.
      • Do not separate the steering sliding with shaft yoke from the intermediate shaft.
    2. Put matchmarks on the steering sliding with shaft yoke, No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and intermediate shaft.

    3. Separate the steering sliding with shaft yoke from the steering intermediate shaft.

      *2 No. 2 steering intermediate shaft

      HINT: 

      Insert a screwdriver or equivalent into the yoke's hole. Hold down the intermediate shaft's claw and remove the intermediate shaft. If the claw is damaged, remove the claw. The intermediate shaft does not have to be replaced.

  12. REMOVE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 
    1. Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and power steering link.

    2. Remove the bolt and steering intermediate shaft.
  13. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and the steering column.

    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Remove the clamp and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft.

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for AWD) 
    1. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and steering column.

    2. Remove the bolt.
    3. Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft and steering intermediate shaft.

  15. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WITH MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps from the steering column.
    2. Remove the 4 nuts and steering column.
