On-Vehicle Inspection [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Lexus IS 250 and 2014 Lexus IS 250. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- INSPECT COOLING FAN ECU
- Check and ensure the following conditions:
- The engine switch is off.
- The engine coolant temperature is less than 92°C (198°F).
- The battery voltage is between 11 to 14 V.
- The A/C switch is off.
- Connect the pickup of a clamp-on ammeter around one of the two wires for the cooling fan motor.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait for approximately 10 seconds. Check that the fan is not operating.
- Start the engine. Check that the fan is not operating with the engine idling.
HINT:
- Make sure that the engine coolant temperature is less than 92°C (198°F).
- Turn the A/C switch off.
- Check that the fan operates when the A/C switch is turned on.
