Installation [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Lexus IS 500, 2023 Lexus IS 500, and 2022 Lexus IS 500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL TCM 
    1. Install the 2 brackets to the TCM with the 4 screws.

      Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf/cm, 27 in.lbf) 

    2. Install the TCM to the engine room ECM box with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf/cm, 49 in.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Install the TCM to the engine room ECM box with the name plate facing the inside of the vehicle.
      • Make sure that water and foreign matter do not enter the engine room ECM box when the engine room ECU cover is off.
      • If the TCM has been dropped or subjected to severe impact, or there any cracks, dents or other defects on the TCM housing, replace the TCM with a new one.
      • Make sure that the stud bolts are securely installed to the engine room ECM box.

    3. Connect the 2 TCM connectors.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to securely connect the 2 TCM connectors.

    4. Connect the 2 ECM connectors.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to securely connect the 2 ECM connectors.

    5. Connect the connector holder and grommet to the engine room ECM box.
    6. Engage the claw.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to securely engage the claw.

    7. Engage the claw to connect the junction connector to the connector holder.

    8. Connect the engine wire harness connector (B) as shown in the illustration.
    9. Connect the engine wire harness connector (A) as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to securely connect the 2 engine wire harness connectors.

  2. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2023 - ]

  4. RESET MEMORY 

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2021 - ]
