Removal [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (TWC: Front Catalyst) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  3. REMOVE DIRECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  4. REMOVE NO. 3 CAMSHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  5. REMOVE NO. 4 CAMSHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  6. REMOVE CAMSHAFT 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 CAMSHAFT 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 VALVE ROCKER ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD LH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft housing LH.

    2. Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

    3. Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head set bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head set bolts and 10 plate washers.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to drop the plate washers into the cylinder head LH.
      • Warpage or cracking of the cylinder head LH could result from removing the bolts in an incorrect order.

      HINT: 

      Arrange the removed parts in such a way that they can be installed to their original locations.

    4. Remove the cylinder head LH.
  10. REMOVE NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD GASKET 
    1. Remove the No. 2 cylinder head gasket.
  11. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and camshaft housing RH.

    2. Uniformly loosen and remove the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

    3. Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 cylinder head set bolts in the order shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head set bolts and 10 plate washers.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to drop the plate washers into the cylinder head sub-assembly.
      • Warpage or cracking of the cylinder head sub-assembly could result from removing the bolts in an incorrect order.

      HINT: 

      Arrange the removed parts in such a way that they can be installed to their original locations.

    4. Remove the cylinder head sub-assembly.
  12. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET 
    1. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
