DTC P0235-11: Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit Short to Ground [08/2015 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF NO. 2 TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR)

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to No. 2 Turbo Pressure Sensor)
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 turbo pressure sensor connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F81-3 (VC) - F81-1 (E2) Engine switch on (IG) 4.75 to 5.25 V
      F81-2 (PTA) - F81-1 (E2) Engine switch on (IG) 3.0 to 5.25 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  2. REPLACE NO. 2 TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR 
    1. Replace the No. 2 turbo pressure sensor.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0235-11) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTC.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    10. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes

      DTCs are not output A
      DTC P0235-11 is output B

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 turbo pressure sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F81-3 (VC) - F78-140 (VPTA) Always Below 1 Ω
      F81-2 (PTA) or F78-108 (PTA) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
