Removal [10/2017 - 09/2020]: Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 2024 Lexus IS 350, 2024 Lexus IS 300, 2023 Lexus IS 350, 2023 Lexus IS 300, and 2022 Lexus IS 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Full Cover Type) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  2. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Full Cover Type) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  3. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE

    1. Remove the 6 bolts and 2 nuts.
    2. Disengage the 2 clips to remove the front center floor brace from the vehicle body.
  4. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 
    1. for Bank 1:
      1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

        *a Grommet
      2. Using SST, remove the heated oxygen sensor from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).
        • SST: 09224-00012

        NOTE:

        If a heated oxygen sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    2. for Bank 2 (for 2WD):
      1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

        *a Grommet
      2. Using SST, remove the heated oxygen sensor from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

        • SST: 09224-00012 
        NOTE:

        If a heated oxygen sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. for Bank 2 (for AWD with Front Floor Cover LH):
      1. Disconnect the 6 clips and remove the front floor cover LH.

      2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

      3. Disconnect the 2 clamps from the vehicle body.
      4. Using SST, remove the heated oxygen sensor from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

        • SST: 09224-00012 
        NOTE:

        If a heated oxygen sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    4. for Bank 2 (for AWD without Front Floor Cover LH):
      1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor grommet from the vehicle body.

      2. Disconnect the 3 clamps from the vehicle body.
      3. Using SST, remove the heated oxygen sensor from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

        • SST: 09224-00012 
        NOTE:

        If a heated oxygen sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts to disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: rear catalyst).

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, 4 compression springs and front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).

    3. Remove the 4 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst).
  6. DISCONNECT TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the tail exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

      NOTE:

      Protect the rear bumper assembly using protection material such as a piece of cloth to avoid damage by the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly.

  7. DISCONNECT TAIL EXHAUST PIPE LH 
    1. Disconnect the tail exhaust pipe LH from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

      NOTE:

      Protect the rear bumper assembly using protection material such as a piece of cloth to avoid damage by the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly from the tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assembly from the tail exhaust pipe LH.
