DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG1 NO. 3 FUSE - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F54 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NSW TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-4 (B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

  3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      2 - 6 and 4 - 5 P Below 1 Ω
      Except P 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 R Below 1 Ω
      Except R 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 9 and 4 - 5 N Below 1 Ω
      Except N 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 7 D, M, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Except D, M, "+" and "-" 10 kΩ or higher

      (Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG1 NO. 3 FUSE - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      (to Transmission Control Switch)
    2. Disconnect the K80 transmission control switch connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K80-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      4 - 5 M, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Except M, "+" and "-" 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY, TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) position, and measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (ECM)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition
      F4-12 (P) - Body ground P 11 to 14 V
      Except P Below 1 V
      F4-11 (R) - Body ground R 11 to 14 V
      Except R Below 1 V
      F4-13 (N) - Body ground N 11 to 14 V
      Except N Below 1 V
      F4-14 (D) - Body ground D, M, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V
      Except D, M, "+" and "-" Below 1 V
      A77-16 (S) - Body ground M, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V
      Except M, "+" and "-" Below 1 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A77 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-4 (B) - A77-29 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A77-29 (NSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]
