DTC C060E-2A: Left Electric Parking Brake Actuator Signal Stuck In Range [09/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Using the Techstream, check for DTCs other than DTC C060E-2A.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC C060E-2A is output A
      DTCs other than C060E-2A are output B

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    A

  2. INSPECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    3. Disconnect the tQ1 and t1 No. 2 parking brake wire assembly connectors.
    4. Check both the connector case and the terminals for deformation and corrosion.

      OK

      No deformation or corrosion.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      tQ1-2 - t1-2 (MRL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      tQ1-2 or t1-2 (MRL+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      tQ1-1 - t1-1 (MRL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      tQ1-1 or t1-1 (MRL-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) - PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Make sure the No. 2 parking brake wire assembly is securely installed.
    3. Disconnect the A111 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    4. Disconnect the t1 parking brake actuator assembly LH connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A111-3 (MRL+) - t1-2 (MRL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A111-2 (MRL-) - t1-1 (MRL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A111-3 (MRL+) or t1-2 (MRL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A111-2 (MRL-) or t1-1 (MRL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT REAR BRAKE AND PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY LH (CHECK FOR ROTATING PARTS THAT ARE STUCK AND FOR FREE SPINNING ACTUATORS) 
    1. Enter rear brake pad replacement mode.

      Refer to REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE [09/2020 - ] 

    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Check that the rotating parts are not seized or the actuator is not spinning freely.
      1. Check that the parking brake actuator assembly LH is installed properly to the rear brake caliper and that it is not spinning freely.

        For the parking brake actuator assembly LH removal procedure: Refer to REMOVAL [09/2020 - ]

      2. Check that there is no damage to the rotating parts from the parking brake actuator assembly LH to the rear brake caliper.
      3. Inspect the parking brake actuator assembly LH and check that it operates correctly.

        Refer to INSPECTION [09/2020 - ]

      4. Check that the rear brake caliper threaded part rotates and that the rear disc brake piston moves outward.

        HINT: 

        For the check procedures, refer to the parking brake forced release method when not using the Techstream.

        Refer to OPERATION METHOD [09/2020 - ]

      HINT: 

      Return to normal mode after work is complete.

      Refer to REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE [09/2020 - ]
