On-Vehicle Inspection [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Turn the A/C switch on.
    5. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly LH.
      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1).

        Powertrain > Engine > Active Test 

        Tester Display
        Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1)
      2. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly LH using the Techstream.

        Standard Condition

        Control Range Specified Condition
        0% Normal engine speed
        100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

        If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly LH, wire harness and ECM.

    6. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly RH.
      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank2).

        Powertrain > Engine > Active Test 

        Tester Display
        Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank2)
      2. Check the engine speed while operating the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly RH using the Techstream.

        Standard Condition

        Control Range Specified Condition
        0% Normal engine speed
        100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

        If the operation is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly RH, wire harness and ECM.
