DTC P1235: High Pressure Fuel Pump Circuit; DTC P1236: High Pressure Fuel Pump No. 2 Circuit [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

    *1 No. 1 injector driver (EDU) *2 No. 2 injector driver (EDU)
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Interchange the No. 1 and No. 2 injector driver (EDU).
      NOTE:

      Do not disconnect and reconnect the connectors with the engine switch on (IG), as the injector driver (EDU) may be damaged.

    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Turn the Techstream on.
    6. Clear the DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Before clearing the DTCs, write them down.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    7. Start the engine.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    9. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs do not change A
      DTCs change (change in malfunctioning cylinder or EDU code) B

    Result: 

    REPLACE INJECTOR DRIVER (EDU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result:

  2. INSPECT FUEL PUMP (FOR HIGH PRESSURE SIDE) 
    1. Inspect the fuel pump (for high pressure side).

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2021 - ]

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the fuel pump (for high pressure side).

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2021 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL PUMP (FOR HIGH PRESSURE SIDE). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INJECTOR DRIVER (EDU) - FUEL PUMP (FOR HIGH PRESSURE SIDE)) 
    1. Disconnect the injector driver (EDU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the fuel pump (for high pressure side) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F165-3 (FP+) - F170-1 (FP1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F165-4 (FP-) - F170-2 (FP1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F191-3 (FP2+) - F183-1 (FP2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F191-4 (FP2-) - F183-2 (FP2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F165-3 (FP+) or F170-1 (FP1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F165-4 (FP-) or F170-2 (FP1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F191-3 (FP2+) or F183-1 (FP2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F191-4 (FP2-) or F183-2 (FP2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - INJECTOR DRIVER (EDU)) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the injector driver (EDU) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F155-10 (FPF1) - F164-7 (FPF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      F155-11 (FPD) - F164-8 (FPD) Always Below 1 Ω
      F155-12 (FPF2) - F190-7 (FPF2) Always Below 1 Ω
      F155-13 (FPD2) - F190-8 (FPD2) Always Below 1 Ω
      F155-10 (FPF1) or F164-7 (FPF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F155-11 (FPD) or F164-8 (FPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F155-12 (FPF2) or F190-7 (FPF2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F155-13 (FPD2) or F190-8 (FPD2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]
