Speedometer Malfunction [09/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication DTC is not output A
      CAN communication DTC is output B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result:

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION) 
    1. Use the Active Test to check the operation of the speedometer (Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).

      • 40 → 39.2 to 42.4

      • 120 → 120.6 to 124.4
      • 160 → 161.3 to 165.3

      Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling.
      0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 240 (km/h)*2 Acceptable range (km/h): [Control range → Speedometer display]
      • 40 → 38.6 to 43.1
      • 80 → 78.8 to 84.3
      • 120 → 119.5 to 125.5
      • 160 → 160.1 to 166.6
      • 200 → 200.6 to 207.6
      • 240 → 241.4 to 248.4

      Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling.
      1. *1: for U.S.A.
      2. *2: for Canada

      OK

      Speedometer indication is normal.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the speedometer is operating properly (Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).
      COMBINATION METER

      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed/Min.: 0 mph (0 km/ h), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed -

      OK

      Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester (calibrated chassis dynamometer).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

    Result: 

    OK

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FR/FL/RR/RL WHEEL SPEED) 
    1. Use the Data List to check the wheel speed (Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).

  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the combination meter assembly with a new or normally functioning one (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 10/2015] )
