DTC P0013: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 1); DTC P0023: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 2) [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC (DTC P0013 OR P0023) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Clear DTC after recording the freeze frame data and DTC.
    3. Turn the power switch off.
    4. Allow the engine to idle and check DTC.
    5. Check that P0013 or P0023 is stored.

      OK

      P0013 or P0023 is not stored

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG

    NG

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the E12 or E17 OCV connector.

    2. Remove the OCV (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] ).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 6.9 to 7.9 Ω

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  OK

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the E12 or E17 OCV connector.
    2. Disconnect the E2 or E4 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E12-1 - E2-4 (OE1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E12-2 - E2-3 (OE1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E17-1 - E4-18 (OE2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E17-2 - E4-28 (OE2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E12-1 or E2-4 (OE1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E12-2 or E2-3 (OE1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E17-1 or E4-18 (OE2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E17-2 or E4-28 (OE2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
