Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [10/2014 - 09/2017]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT SHIFT UP SW AND SPORT SHIFT DOWN SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List

      Sport Shift Up SW Sport shift up switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: "+" shift paddle operated and held (up-shift)

  2. INSPECT TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A35-42 (SFTU) - Body ground "+" shift paddle operated and held (up-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      A35-42 (SFTU) - Body ground "+" shift paddle not operated (up-shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      A35-43 (SFTD) - Body ground "-" shift paddle operated and held (down-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      A35-43 (SFTD) - Body ground "-" shift paddle not operated (down-shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      OK
      NG

    Result:

    GO TO TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT. Refer to  Transmission Control Switch Circuit [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the I4 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-7 (SDN) - A35-43 (SFTD) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-14 (SUP) - A35-42 (SFTU) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-7 (SDN) or A35-43 (SFTD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I4-14 (SUP) or A35-42 (SFTU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the steering pad switch connector.

      *a Steering Pad Switch Assembly Connector
      (to Spiral Cable Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z3-6 (SUP) - z3-7 (ECC) "+" shift paddle operated and held (up-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      z3-6 (SUP) - z3-7 (ECC) "+" shift paddle not operated (up-shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z3-12 (SDN) - z3-7 (ECC) "-" shift paddle operated and held (down-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      z3-12 (SDN) - z3-7 (ECC) "-" shift paddle not operated (down-shift) 1 MΩ or higher

  6. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017] 

  7. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch LH.

      *1 Shift Paddle Switch LH

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      SDN - ECC "-" shift paddle operated and held (down-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      SDN - ECC "-" shift paddle not operated (down-shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  8. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch RH.

      *1 Shift Paddle Switch RH

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      SUP - ECC "+" shift paddle operated and held (up-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      SUP - ECC "+" shift paddle not operated (up-shift) 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  9. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.

      *a No. 1 switch wire
      (to Steering Pad Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z7-2 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) "-" shift paddle operated and held (down-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-2 (SDN) - z7-3 (ECC) "-" shift paddle not operated (down-shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z7-1 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) "+" shift paddle operated and held (up-shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-1 (SUP) - z7-3 (ECC) "+" shift paddle not operated (up-shift) 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    REPLACE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017] 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the I4 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-2 (ECC) - A35-41 (ECCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-2 (ECC) or A35-41 (ECCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK
