DTC P0710-11: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Short To Ground [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C20-84 (THO1) - C20-83 (ETHO) Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
      C20-84 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C20-83 (ETHO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the C21 wiring harness connector.
    2. Disconnect the C20 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C21-13 (OIL) or C20-84 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C21-12 (E2) or C20-83 (ETHO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Remove the wiring harness connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-18 (THO1) - A-17 (E2) Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
      A-18 (THO1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-17 (E2) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      If the resistance is out of the specified range at any of the ATF temperatures shown in the table below, the driveability of the vehicle may decrease.

      ATF Temperature Specified Condition
      10°C (50°F) 5 to 8 kΩ
      25°C (77°F) 2.5 to 4.5 kΩ
      110°C (230°F) 0.22 to 0.28 kΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2015]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2015 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. INSPECT ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the ATF temperature sensor connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (ATF Temperature Sensor Assembly)

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      THO1 - E2 Always 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
      THO1 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      If the resistance is out of the specified range at any of the ATF temperatures shown in the table below, the driveability of the vehicle may decrease.
