DTC P0615-12: Starter Relay Circuit Short to Battery [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Data List / Starter SW.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Starter SW
    5. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the vehicle is driven at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more.
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

      Result

      Condition Starter SW Result
      Driving at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) or more OFF (Starter signal off) A
      ON (Starter signal on) B

    Result: 

    A 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [10/2014 - ]

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STA SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Repair or replace harness or connector (starter signal circuit).

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0615-12) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - 05/2019] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [05/2019 - ]

      Powertrain > Transmission > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
    7. Start the engine.
    8. Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more.
    9. Drive the vehicle at 24 km/h (15 mph) or more for 20 seconds or more.
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

    10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.
    11. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      DTC P0615-12 is output A
      DTC is not output B

    Result: 

    A 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - ]
