Front and Rear Switch Cannot Operate Rear Sunshade [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      No DTC is output A
      DTC U0141, U0210, U1114 is output B
      DTC U1127 is output C

    B → See step   10 

    C → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (BODY NO. 4) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the shade raises/lowers. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [10/2014 - ] .
      BODY NO. 4

      OK

      Rear sunshade raises or lowers.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BODY NO. 4) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the rear sunshade limit switch is functioning properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [10/2014 - ] .
      BODY NO. 4

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Rear Sunshade Close Status of the rear sunshade close / YES or NO YES: Rear sunshade limit switch is OFF (Rear sunshade is lowered)
      NO: Rear sunshade limit switch is ON (Rear sunshade is raised)

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, item changes between YES and NO according to above chart.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

  4. INSPECT FUSE (RR S/SHADE) 
    1. Remove the RR S/SHADE fuse from luggage room junction block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      RR S/SHADE fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the LG junction block connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      LG-1 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR WINDOW SHADE - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the S25 shade connector.
    2. Disconnect the S61 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S25-2 (RSMU) - S61-4 (MU) Always Below 1 Ω
      S25-1 (RSMD) - S61-3 (MD) Always Below 1 Ω
      S25-4 (RSE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S25-2 (RSMU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S25-1 (RSMD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear window shade assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] .

    2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the window shade motor.
      STANDARD

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → 1 (RSMD)
      Battery negative (-) → 4 (RSE)
      Sunshade lowers
      Battery positive (+) → 2 (RSMU)
      Battery negative (-) → 4 (RSE)
      Sunshade raises

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR WINDOW SHADE - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

    1. Disconnect the S25 shade connector.
    2. Disconnect the S61 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S25-3 (RSL) - S61-22 (LMT) Always Below 1 Ω
      S25-3 (RSL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the rear window shade assembly with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] .
    2. Check the rear sunshade system. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] .

      OK

      Rear sunshade raises and lowers.

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK → END (REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2014 - ] 
  11. GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC U1127: Lost Communication with Center Console Switch ECU [10/2014 - ] 
  12. REPLACE REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - ]
