Installation [04/2013 - 10/2017]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new water pump gasket and the engine water pump assembly with the 16 bolts.

      Bolt A
      Bolt B
      Bolt C

      Bolt A 

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

      Bolt B and C 

      Torque: 11 N*m (112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Make sure that there is no oil on the threads of the bolts (A).
      • Be sure to replace the 2 bolts (C) with new ones or reuse them after applying adhesive.

        Adhesive

        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

      Standard Length

      Item Length
      Bolt A 55 mm (2.17 in.)
      Bolt B, C 22 mm (0.87 in.)
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly and No. 2 idler pulley cover plate with the bolt.

      Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

  3. INSTALL WATER INLET 
    1. Install a new No. 1 water inlet housing gasket and water outlet pipe O-ring.
    2. Install the water inlet with the 4 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to allow the No. 1 water inlet housing gasket and water outlet pipe O-ring to get caught between the parts.

    3. Connect the No. 2 water by-pass hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
    4. Connect the No. 3 water by-pass hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
    5. Connect the No. 4 water by-pass hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
    6. Connect the No. 6 water by-pass hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
    7. Connect the radiator reserve tank hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
  4. INSTALL WATER PUMP PULLEY 
    1. Temporarily install the water pump pulley with the 4 bolts.
    2. Using SST, hold the water pump pulley and tighten the 4 bolts.

      • SST: 09960-10010 
        1. 09962-01000
        2. 09963-00700

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

  5. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 29

  6. INSTALL INJECTOR DRIVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE 

    See step  3

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    See step  9

  10. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  11. INSTALL COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (for 2WD) 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 08/2015] , or refer to INSTALLATION [08/2015 - 10/2017]

  12. INSTALL COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (for AWD) 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 08/2015] , or refer to INSTALLATION [08/2015 - 10/2017]

  13. ADD ENGINE COOLANT 

    See step  5[04/2013 - 08/2015], or see step  5[08/2015 - 10/2017]

  14. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
