Removal [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2014 - 08/2015]

  3. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 10/2017]

  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  5. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (w/ No. 2 Engine Under Cover) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 

    See step  3

  9. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]

  10. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 10/2017]

  11. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER 
    1. Remove the flywheel housing side cover from the engine assembly.

  12. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER SETTING BOLT 
    1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
      • SST: 09213-7001109330-00021 
        1. 09213-70020

    2. Remove the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts.

      HINT: 

      There will be one black colored bolt.

  13. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Remove the nut and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly from the lever of the transmission floor shift assembly.

    3. Remove the clip, pin and floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly from the transmission control shaft lever RH.

  14. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.
      NOTE:
      • In order to protect the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly, place attachments on the transmission jack.
      • Make sure that the attachments and the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly are centered on the transmission jack.
      • To prevent the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments under the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly of the automatic transmission assembly.

  15. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and separate the rear engine mounting member from the body.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts and rear engine mounting member from the automatic transmission assembly.

  16. DISCONNECT NO. 2 EARTH WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 2 earth wire from the automatic transmission assembly.

  17. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.
      NOTE:

      Make sure that the cooling fan and fan shroud do not contact the engine assembly when tilting the automatic transmission assembly.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

      HINT: 

      Disengage the claw, pull down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    4. Disconnect the 4 clamps and remove the nut and wire harness from the automatic transmission assembly.
  18. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE 
    1. Remove the bolt and hose clamp from the automatic transmission assembly.

    2. Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose from the transmission oil cooler.

      HINT: 

      Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the water by-pass hose and No. 2 water by-pass hose.

  19. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly from the engine assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Secure the automatic transmission assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.
      • To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transmission assembly and engine assembly.

  20. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket from the automatic transmission assembly.

  21. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the case and the torque converter assembly.

    2. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transmission assembly.
  22. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - 08/2015]
