Removal [04/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 
    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts, 4 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket sub-assembly.

      *1 Nut

      HINT: 

      When removing on the exhaust side, hold the nuts while loosening the bolts.

  3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Some fluid will remain in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.

    1. Remove the 20 bolts, automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and automatic transmission oil pan gasket.

    2. Remove the 6 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
    3. Examine particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
      1. Collect any steel chips with the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets.

        Carefully look for the foreign objects and particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to guess the type of wear which might be found in the automatic transmission with transfer assembly.

        Result

        Steel (magnetic) 

        Bearing, gear and plate wear

        Brass (non-magnetic) 

        Bushing wear

  4. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly.

      NOTE:

      Be careful as some fluid will come out of the valve body oil strainer assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the valve body oil strainer assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and the temperature sensor clamp.

      *1 Temperature Sensor Clamp
      *2 ATF Temperature Sensor
    2. Disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 valve body wire harness clamps.

    4. Disconnect the 9 connectors from the shift solenoid valves.

  6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

      HINT: 

      Detach the claw, press down the lever, and disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Remove the bolt and pull out the transmission wire.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the transmission wire.

    4. Remove the O-ring from the ATF temperature sensor.
