Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - 09/2020] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2020 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 10/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2016 - 10/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2020 - 11/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2023 - ]

  4. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  6

  6. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:

    Remove any foreign matter on the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe before performing this work.

    1. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel delivery pipe.
      1. Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the fuel tube connector.

        *a Retainer
        *b Fuel Tube Connector
        *c Nylon Tube
        *d O-ring
        *e Fuel Pipe
        Pull out
        Pull off
        NOTE:

        Be sure to disconnect the fuel tube connector by hand.

      2. If the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe are stuck, push and pull the fuel tube connector to release it. Pull the fuel tube connector off of the fuel pipe carefully.
        NOTE:
        • Be sure to disconnect the fuel tube connector by hand.
        • Do not scratch or allow any foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the fuel tube connector has O-rings that seal the pipe (fuel pipe).
        • Do not bend, twist, pinch or kink the nylon tube.
      3. Check that there is no foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected fuel lines. Clean them if necessary.
      4. Cover the disconnected fuel pipe and fuel tube connector with plastic bags to prevent damage and contamination.
  7. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE 
    1. Disengage the 3 clamps to disconnect the No. 6 engine wire from the fuel delivery pipe.

    2. Disconnect the 4 port fuel injector assembly connectors to remove the No. 6 engine wire.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe with the 4 port fuel injector assemblies from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      NOTE:
      • If fuel intrudes into the combustion chamber, there may be adverse effects to the engine main body.
      • Be careful not to drop the port fuel injector assemblies when removing the fuel delivery pipe.
    4. Remove the 2 fuel delivery spacers from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

    5. Remove the 4 injector vibration insulators from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE PORT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Pull the 4 port fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe.

    2. Remove the O-ring from each port fuel injector assembly.
    3. Attach a tag or label with the corresponding cylinder number to each port fuel injector assembly so that they can be installed to their original locations.
      NOTE:

      Cover the port fuel injector assemblies with plastic bags to prevent damage and contamination.
