Glass Hatch Opener System does not Operate [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the back door courtesy light switch is functioning properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2013 - ] .
      MAIN BODY

      Back Door Courtesy SW Back door courtesy switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Back door open
      OFF: Back door closed

      OK

      On the tester screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START (for Entry Function) 
    1. When the back door entry lock switch is operated, check that the glass hatch opens.

      OK

      The back door entry lock function operates normally.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (GLASS HATCH OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the glass hatch opener switch is functioning properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2013 - ] .

  4. INSPECT GLASS HATCH OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the glass hatch opener switch. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Switch pushed Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS HATCH OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the X3 glass hatch opener switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the G46 main body ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X3-2 - G46-17 (GOSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      X3-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      X3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

  6. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (GLASS HATCH OPEN) 
    1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2013 - ] .

      OK

      The glass hatch is opened.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

  7. INSPECT BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back window lock. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .

      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      Moves to Open Position - -
    2. Move the back window lock to the lock position.
    3. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the window door lock motor.

      Standard Resistance

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) - Terminal 3 (+) Opens
      Battery negative (-) - Terminal 4 (-)

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the X4 back window lock connector.
    2. Remove the main body ECU. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X4-3 (+) - 2H-9 (GHRY) Always Below 1 Ω
      X4-4 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      X4-3 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the driver side junction block with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Check that the glass hatch opener function operates normally.

      OK

      The glass hatch opener function operates normally.

    NG → See step   14 

    OK → END (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. REPLACE BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  11. REPLACE GLASS HATCH OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  12. GO TO SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START (for Entry Function). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2013 - ] 
  13. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  Back Door Courtesy Switch Circuit [08/2013 - ] 
  14. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
