Tachometer Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for DTC. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2012 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTC is not output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER) 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Active Test".

      OK

      Needle indication is normal.

      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range
      Tachometer operation Tachometer 0, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000

      HINT: 

      Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine is idling.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED) 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Data List".

      OK

      Engine speed displayed on Techstream is almost the same as actual engine speed.

      COMBINATION METER

      Engine Rpm Engine speed / Min.: 0, Max.: 12750 Idling: 700 to 800 Unit: rpm

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   11 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED) 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Data List".

      OK

      Engine speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual engine speed.

      ENGINE

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. REPLACE NO. 1 METER ECU 
    1. Temporarily replace the No. 1 meter ECU with a new one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [09/2012 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK NO. 1 METER ECU 
    1. Check the operation of the tachometer returns to normal. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [09/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Operation of tachometer returns to normal.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → END (NO. 1 METER ECU IS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2012 - ] 
  8. Go to SFI SYSTEM. Refer to  PRECAUTION [09/2012 - ] 
  9. Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  PRECAUTION [09/2012 - ] 
  10. REPLACE NO. 1 METER ECU. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [09/2012 - ] 
  11. REPLACE NO. 1 METER ECU. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [09/2012 - ]
