  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [06/2012 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
CAN communication DTC is not output A
CAN communication DTC is output B

    B → See step   6

    A: Go to next step

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SPEED METER OPERATION)
    1. Use the Active Test to check the operation of the speedometer. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [06/2012 - ] .
      COMBINATION METER

Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
Speed Meter Operation Speedometer 0, 40, 80, 120 (mph)*1 Acceptable range (mph): [Control range → Speedometer display]
      • 40 → 39 to 42.5 mph
      • 80 → 79 to 84 mph
      • 120 → 120 to 119 to 125.5 mph
Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling.

      OK

      Speedometer indication is normal.

    NG → See step   7

    OK: Go to next step

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER)
    1. Use the Data List to check if the speedometer is operating properly. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [06/2012 - ] .
      COMBINATION METER

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed/Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester -

      OK

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester (calibrated chassis dynamometer).

    NG → See step   4

    OK → See step   7

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FR/FL/RR/RL WHEEL SPEED)
    1. Use the Data List to check the wheel speed. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [06/2012 - ] .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note

Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester (calibrated chassis dynamometer).

    NG → See step   8

    OK: Go to next step

  5. REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
    1. Replace the skid control ECU with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2012 - ] .

      OK

The operation of the speedometer returns to normal.
