SRS Warning Light does not Come ON: Procedure

  1. CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    1. Measure the voltage of the battery.

      Standard Voltage

      11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      The connector is properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the H14 combination meter assembly connector.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connector are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H14-21 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      H14-22 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H14-30 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    2. Reconnect the H14 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the H36 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    6. Check the SRS warning light condition.

      OK

      After the primary check period, the SRS warning light goes off for approximately 10 seconds and turns back on.

      HINT: 

      The primary check operates for approximately 6 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2012 - ] 
  6. INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM AND BATTERY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [06/2012 - ] 
  7. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2012 - ]
