Electric Parking Brake Actuator: Removal: Removal

  1. RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 
    1. With the engine switch on (IG), operate the electric parking brake switch to release the parking brake. Then turn the engine switch off.

      HINT: 

      If the parking brake cannot be released, use the luggage compartment's parking brake release tool to manually release the parking brake (refer to the Owner's Manual).

  2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE:
    • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

      After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal

      Condition Waiting Time
      Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
      Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  5. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  7. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  8. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  9. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the trunk interior's electric parking brake actuator grommet and connector.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  11. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  12. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOLDING PROTECTOR  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  13. REMOVE NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOLDING PROTECTOR  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  14. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  15. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  16. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 14
  17. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS CLAMP 
    1. Remove the clamps shown.

  18. REMOVE FLOOR NO. 1 UNDER COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  19. DISCONNECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR CAP 
    1. Remove the electric parking brake actuator emergency release cable cap and 2 nuts.

  20. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR REAR LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 17
  21. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR REAR RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
  22. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  23. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  24. REMOVE TAILPIPE LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 15
  25. REMOVE TAILPIPE RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 16
  26. DISCONNECT PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  27. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  28. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  29. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 31
  30. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 32
  31. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Coil Suspension)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  32. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Coil Suspension) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  33. DISCONNECT PNEUMATIC REAR LH WITH SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Suspension)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  34. DISCONNECT PNEUMATIC REAR RH WITH SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Suspension) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  35. REMOVE REAR DISK LH  See step  3
  36. REMOVE REAR DISK RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  37. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 37
  38. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING 
    1. Using SST, remove the shoe return spring (LH side).
      • SST: 09703-30011

    2. Remove the shoe return spring (RH side).

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  39. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER LH  See step  9
  40. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  41. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING 
    1. Using SST, remove the shoe return spring (LH side).
      • SST: 09703-30011

    2. Remove the shoe return spring (RH side).

      HINT: 

      Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  42. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET LH  See step  6
  43. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET RH

  44. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH  See step  7

  46. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH  See step  8

  48. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the cable from the cable support bracket.

  49. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE W/ BRACKET ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and 5 nuts.

    2. Detach the clamp from the member.
    3. Remove the 3 harness clamps from the member.

    4. Remove the 3 nuts and actuator.
