DTC B14F2: Seat Heater Temperature Sensor Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is output (Rear seat climate control ECU LH) A
      DTC is output (Rear seat climate control ECU RH) B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT HEATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the temperature sensor.
      REAR LEFT SEAT A/C

      Item Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Seat Heat Temp Seat heater temperature sensor signal/MIN: 0°C (32°F), MAX: 85°C (185°F) Within range from 0 to 85°C (32 to 185°F) -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition.

    OK → See step   10 

  3. INSPECT REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER LH

    1. Disconnect the cushion cover LH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (H5) - 3 (HS) Outside air temperature 20 to 40°C (68 to 104°F) 10.5 to 4 kΩ

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT REAR SEATBACK COVER LH 
    1. Disconnect the cushion cover connector.

    2. Disconnect the f15 seatback cover connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-2 (H5) - B-1 (H5) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 (HS) - B-3 (HS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-2 (H5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-4 (HS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU LH - REAR SEATBACK COVER LH AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the f14 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the f15 seatback cover connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      f14-9 (H5) - f15-2 (H5) Always Below 1 Ω
      f14-10 (HS) - f15-4 (HS) Always Below 1 Ω
      f14-9 (H5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      f14-10 (HS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   10 

  6. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT HEATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the temperature sensor.
      REAR RIGHT SEAT A/C

      Item Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Seat Heat Temp Seat heater temperature sensor signal/MIN: 0°C (32°F), MAX: 85°C (185°F) Within range from 0 to 85°C (32 to 185°F) -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition.

  7. INSPECT REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER RH

    1. Remove the cushion cover connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (H5) - 3 (HS) Outside air temperature 20 to 40°C (68 to 104°F) 10.5 to 4 kΩ

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT REAR SEATBACK COVER RH 
    1. Disconnect the cushion cover connector.

    2. Disconnect the f3 seatback cover connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-2 (H5) - B-1 (H5) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-4 (HS) - B-3 (HS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A-2 (H5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-4 (HS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU RH - REAR SEATBACK COVER RH AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the f7 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the f3 seatback cover connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      f7-9 (H5) - f3-2 (H5) Always Below 1 Ω
      f7-10 (HS) - f3-4 (HS) Always Below 1 Ω
      f7-9 (H5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      f7-10 (HS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   13 

  10. REPLACE SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  11. REPLACE REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  12. REPLACE REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  13. REPLACE SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  14. REPLACE REAR SEATBACK COVER LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  15. REPLACE REAR SEATBACK COVER RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
