DTC B15BB: Multi-media Interface ECU Malfunction: Procedure

  1. REPLACE "iPod" OR USB DEVICE 
    1. Disconnect the USB device or "iPod" from the stereo jack adapter.
    2. Turn the engine switch off.

      HINT: 

      When one of these DTCs has been stored, is necessary to turn off the engine switch to make it possible for the vehicle to recognize a new device when it is connected.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    4. Connect a known good USB device or "iPod" to the stereo jack adapter.

      HINT: 

      If the malfunction occurred when a USB device was in use, use another USB device for the inspection. If the malfunction occurred when an "iPod" was in use, use another "iPod" for the inspection.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Check DTCs and check if the same DTC occurs again.

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → USB DEVICE OR "iPod" WAS DEFECTIVE 

  3. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU 
    1. Disconnect the L128 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L128-1 (UPI) - L128-4 (UJSG) Always 5 V

      (to No. 1 Stereo Jack Adapter Assembly)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   5 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU - STEREO JACK ADAPTER) 
    1. Disconnect the h1 multi-media interface ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the L128 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      h1-1 (UPO) - L128-1 (UPI) Always Below 1 Ω
      h1-4 (UESG) - L128-4 (UJSG) Always Below 1 Ω
      h1-1 (UPO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      h1-4 (UESG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  5. REPLACE NO. 1 STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
