HI-beam Headlight does not Illuminate: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT HI) 
    1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
      BODY NO. 5

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Head Light High Headlight HI beam illumination OFF - ON -

      OK

      Headlight HI condition is switched by Active Test.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
      COMBINATION SWITCH

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Dimmer Hi Switch Headlight dimmer switch signal (Hi position)/ON or OFF ON: Headlight dimmer switch Hi position
      OFF: Headlight dimmer switch OFF
      -

      OK

      Condition sign can be displayed.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper switch with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check the HI-beam headlight operation.

      OK

      HI-beam headlight operation is normal.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   8 

  4. CHECK MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the multiplex network front light ECU with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check the HI-beam headlight operation.

      OK

      HI-beam headlight operation is normal.

    NG → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    OK → END (REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU) 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU - HEADLIGHT)

    1. Disconnect the B14 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the B1 or B11 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      for LH 

      for RH 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B14-6 (HLHL) - B1-2 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω
      B1-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B14-6 (HLHL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B14-5 (HLHR) - B11-2 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B14-5 (HLHR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HEADLIGHT (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the headlight with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check the HI-beam headlight operation.

      OK

      HI-beam headlight operation is normal.

    NG → REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. END (REPLACE HEADLIGHT). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. END (REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL
