DTC B2412: Headlight Swivel Motor LH Malfunction; DTC B2413: Headlight Swivel Motor RH Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Check for DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B2412 or B2413 output does not occur.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   9 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SWIVEL MOTOR) 
    1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
      AFS

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Drive Swivel Motor RH RIGHT Swivel motor RH right direction rotation OFF - RIGHT -
      Drive Swivel Motor RH LEFT Swivel motor RH left direction rotation OFF - LEFT -
      Drive Swivel Motor LH RIGHT Swivel motor LH right direction rotation OFF - RIGHT -
      Drive Swivel Motor LH LEFT Swivel motor LH left direction rotation OFF - LEFT -

      OK

      Swivel motors operate normally.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MOTOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the headlight swivel motor with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .
    2. Check for DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B2412 or B2413 output does not occur.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   12 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - AFS ECU)

    1. Disconnect the A37 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A37-14 (IGS) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the A37 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A37-22 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEADLIGHT)

    1. Disconnect the A37 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the B1 or B11 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      for LH 

      for RH 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A37-1 (SMBL) - B1-22 (SMBL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-29 (SML) - B1-23 (SML) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-23 (SMGL) - B1-24 (SMGL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-1 (SMBL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A37-29 (SML) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A37-23 (SMGL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A37-2 (SMBR) - B11-22 (SMBR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-10 (SMR) - B11-23 (SMR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-24 (SMGR) - B11-24 (SMGR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-2 (SMBR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A37-10 (SMR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A37-24 (SMGR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the headlight assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Disconnect the swivel motor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      for LH 

      for RH 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      22 (SMBL) - 3 (IG) Always Below 1 Ω
      23 (SML) - 2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      24 (SMGL) - 1 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      22 (SMBR) - 3 (IG) Always Below 1 Ω
      23 (SMR) - 2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      24 (SMGR) - 1 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MOTOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the headlight swivel motor with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .
    2. Check for DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B2412 or B2413 output does not occur.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   12 

  9. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  10. REPLACE AFS ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. END (REPLACE HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MOTOR). Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
