Brake Booster: Removal: Removal

NOTE:

Release the vacuum from the booster by depressing the brake pedal several times. Then remove the brake master cylinder sub-assembly from the brake booster assembly.

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the procedure up to Remove Cowl Top Ventilator Louver Sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

  3. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Refer to the procedure up to Remove Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

  4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  5. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK  See step  5
  6. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY  See step  6
  7. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  8. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 
    1. Remove the brake pedal return spring.

  9. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Remove the clip and push rod pin, then separate the push rod clevis.

      *1 Clip
      *2 Brake Master Cylinder Push Rod Clevis
      *3 Push Rod Pin
  10. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), disconnect the front No. 3 brake line from the front flexible hose LH.

      *a Hold
      *b Turn
    2. Disengage the grommet and remove the front No. 3 brake line.
      NOTE:

      Do not kink or damage the brake line.

    3. Remove the 4 nuts and brake booster assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the brake lines.

  11. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET 
    1. Remove the brake booster gasket from the brake booster assembly.
  12. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.
  13. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET 
    1. Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.
  14. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Remove the lock nut and brake master cylinder push rod clevis.
