      RESULT

      Condition Proceed to
Multiplex communication DTC is not output A
Multiplex communication DTC is output B

    B → See step   10

    A: Go to next step

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (WATER TEMPERATURE METER OPERATION)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Check the operation by referring to the values in the table below.

      OK

Engine coolant temperature receiver gauge indication is normal.

    NG → See step   6

    OK: Go to next step

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (COOLANT TEMP)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    5. Check the values by referring to the values in the table below.
      ENGINE AND ECT

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Coolant Temp Engine coolant temperature/Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) After warming up: 80 to 100°C (176 to 212°F)
      • If -40°C (-40°F): sensor circuit is open
      • If 140°C (284°F) or more: sensor circuit is short
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
Engine coolant temperature value displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as actual engine coolant temperature. A
Engine coolant temperature value displayed on the Techstream differs from actual engine coolant temperature (for 4GR-FSE). B
Engine coolant temperature value displayed on the Techstream differs from actual engine coolant temperature (for 2GR-FSE). C

    B → See step   7

    C → See step   11

    A: Go to next step

  5. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
    1. Replace the combination meter assembly with a new or a known good one. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

The operation of the combination meter assembly returns to normal.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
