Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction: Procedure

  1. SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      w/ Occupant Classification System A
      w/o Occupant Classification System B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Recheck for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   17 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (AIRBAG SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Recheck for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   19 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Front passenger side seat belt warning light OFF or ON Confirm that the vehicle stopped with the engine idling

      OK

      The front passenger side seat belt warning light on the accessory meter assembly*1 or radio receiver assembly*2 operates normally.

      • *1: w/o Navigation System
      • *2: w/ Navigation System

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   18 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      P-Seatbelt Buckle SW Front passenger side seat belt buckle switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Front passenger side seat belt fastened
      OFF: Front passenger side seat belt not fastened
      -

      OK

      ON of OFF appears on the Techstream screen according to the front passenger side seat belt condition.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Front passenger side seat belt warning light OFF or ON Confirm that the vehicle stopped with the engine idling

      OK

      The front passenger side seat belt warning light on the radio receiver assembly operates normally.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT INNER BELT - COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Disconnect the F15 meter connector.

    2. Disconnect the Z7 belt connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F15-10 (P/SB) - Z7-1 (WS+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F15-10 (P/SB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Z7-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Front Seat Inner Belt Assembly (Front Passenger Side))

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION PAD) 
    1. Remove the occupant detection sensor (separate type front seat cushion pad). Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 - A-3 Front passenger side seat occupied Below 100 Ω
      A-1 - A-3 Front passenger side seat not occupied 1 MΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Occupant Detection Sensor (Separate Type Front Seat Cushion Pad))

    NG → See step   22 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the front seat inner belt assembly RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Z7-1 (WS+) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Z7-4 (E) - A-3 Front passenger side seat belt unfastened Below 1 Ω
      Z7-4 (E) - A-3 Front passenger side seat belt fastened 10 kΩ or higher

  10. SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Check the vehicle specification.

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the G1 connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G1-2 (IG2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      G1-2 (IG2) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - ACCESSORY METER) 
    1. Disconnect the F16 connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-12 (PBLT) - G1-6 (PBEW) Always Below 1 Ω
      G1-6 (PBEW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Reconnect the G1 connector..

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-12 (PBLT) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F16-12 (PBLT) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the G8 connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G8-15 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      G8-15 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - RADIO RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the F16 connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-12 (PBLT) - G8-2 (PBEW) Always Below 1 Ω
      G8-2 (PBEW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Reconnect the G8 connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-12 (PBLT) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F16-12 (PBLT) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V

  17. GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  18. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  19. GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  20. REPLACE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  21. REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  22. REPLACE OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION PAD). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  23. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL
