"CHK" message(s) are displayed on the SIGNAL CHECK screen.: Procedure

  1. CHECK DISPLAY CHECK MODE 
    1. Check which items display "CHK" (red) on the SIGNAL CHECK screen.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "MIRROR SW" displays "CHK" (red). A
      "CAMERA SW" displays "CHK" (red). B
      Any of "SPEED", "BCTY", "SHIFT", STR SIG", "HANDLE", "ENGINE" and "DEST" displays "CHK" (red). C

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM (POWER RETRACT MIRROR FUNCTION) 
    1. Operate the mirror retract switch to check if the power retract mirror function of the outer rear view mirror assembly RH operates normally. Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      Result

      Power retract mirror function is abnormal B

  3. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (SIDE MONITOR MAIN SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z5-7 (+DP) - z5-8 (EAU) Side monitor main switch pushed in Below 2.5 Ω
      z5-7 (+DP) - z5-8 (EAU) Side monitor main switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Steering Pad Switch Assembly)
      - -

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the steering pad switch and spiral cable.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z5-8 (EAU) - F40-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z5-7 (+DP) - F40-3 (+DP) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      NOTE:

      The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Refer to information shown in the brackets.

      HINT:

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EAU) 
    1. Disconnect the F40 connector from the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F40-4 (EAU) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING ASSIST ECU - SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F54 connector from the parking assist ECU.

    2. Disconnect the F40 connector from the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F54-23 (BLSW) - F40-3 (+DP) Always Below 1 Ω

      (to Parking Assist ECU)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Spiral with Sensor Cable Sub-assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY) 
    1. Disconnect the F40 connector from the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.

    2. Disconnect the G4 connector from the display and navigation module display.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F40-4 (EAU) - G4-23 (SWG) Always Below 1 Ω

      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Display and Navigation Module Display)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  8. REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. CHECK DTC OUTPUT. Refer to  DTC CHECK / CLEAR 
  10. GO TO POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  11. REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL
