DTC B15C2: Speed Signal Malfunction: Procedure
- CHECK VEHICLE SENSOR (OPERATION CHECK)
- Enter the "Check GPS & Vehicle Sensor" (Vehicle Sensors). Refer to OPERATION CHECK .
- While driving the vehicle, compare the "Speed" indicator to the reading on the speedometer. Check if these readings are almost equal.
OK
The readings are almost equal.
NG → See step 2
OK → See step 5
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT WAVEFORM)
- Check the output waveform.
- Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.
- Connect an oscilloscope to terminal F15-3 (+S) and body ground.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn a wheel slowly.
- Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
Item Condition Measurement terminal F15-3 (+S) - Body ground Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV. Vehicle condition Wheel being rotated TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*1 Component with harness connected
(Combination Meter Assembly)OK
The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.
HINT:
When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.
NG → See step 6
OK: Go to next step
- Check the output waveform.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the display and navigation module display connector.
- Disconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition G4-18 (SPD) - F15-3 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*1 Front view of wire harness connector
(to Display and Navigation Module Display)*2 Front view of wire harness connector
(to Combination Meter Assembly)
NG → See step 4
OK → See step 7
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - JUNCTION BLOCK)
- Disconnect the display and navigation module display connector.
- Disconnect the junction block connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition G4-18 (SPD) - F93-47 Always Below 1 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*1 Front view of wire harness connector
