DTC B1662/45: Indicator Light Circuit Malfunction (08/2010 - 08/2011): Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK BATTERY 
    1. Measure the voltage of the battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and combination meter.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SOURCE VOLTAGE OF CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR)

    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Operate all the components of the electrical system (defogger, wipers, headlights, heater blower, etc.).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E47-21 (IG2) - E47-25 (E1) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E47-21 (IG2) - E47-26 (E2) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SOURCE VOLTAGE OF COMBINATION METER)

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    2. Disconnect the E77 connector from the combination meter.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E77-30 (IG+) - E77-26 (ET) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the combination meter.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    6. Check the SRS warning light condition.

      OK

      After the primary check period, SRS warning light goes off for approximately 10 seconds and then remains on.

      HINT: 

      The primary check period is approximately 6 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → See step   10 

  7. REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  8. CHECK AND REPLACE BATTERY OR CHARGING SYSTEM. Refer to  PRECAUTION 
  9. GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  10. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
