Only Rear Switch Cannot Operate Rear Sunshade: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR to check and clear the DTCs.
    RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    DTC is not output A
    DTC U0210 is output B

    B → Go to step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check if the vehicle is equipped with the Ottoman.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      except 4-Passenger with Ottoman A
      for 4-Passenger with Ottoman B

    B → Go to step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST and use the Data List to check if the rear sunshade switch is functioning properly.
      REAR CONSOLE SWITCH

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Rear Shade Switch Rear sunshade switch / ON or OFF ON: Rear sunshade switch pressed
      OFF: Rear sunshade switch not pressed
      -

      OK

      Rear sunshade raises or lowers.

    NG → Go to step   4 

    OK → Go to step   8 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CURTAIN SWITCH - REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH)

    1. Disconnect the z57 curtain switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the z56 power seat switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z57-8 (SW1) - z56-20 (SW1) Always Below 1 Ω
      z57-15 (GND) - z56-5 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      z57-8 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      z57-15 (GND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. REPLACE CURTAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY (REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH) 
    1. Temporarily replace the curtain switch assembly with a new or normally functioning one.

      HINT: 

    2. Check that the rear sunshade can be raised and lowered by using the curtain switch assembly.

      OK

      Rear sunshade can be raised and lowered with curtain switch assembly.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (for Power Seat) B
      NG (for Ottoman) C
      NG (for Fixed Seat Type) D

    B → Go to step   12 

    C → Go to step   9 

    D → Go to step   10 

    A → END (CURTAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST and use the Data List to check if the rear sunshade switch is functioning properly.
      REAR CONSOLE SWITCH

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Rear Shade Switch Rear sunshade switch / ON or OFF ON: Rear sunshade switch pressed
      OFF: Rear sunshade switch not pressed
      -

      OK

      Rear sunshade raises or lowers.

    NG → Go to step   9 

    OK → Go to step   11 

  7. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC U0210: Lost Communication with "Seat Control Module C" 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE 
  9. REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  10. REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY 
  11. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE 
  12. REPLACE REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
