DTC P0877: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch "D" Circuit Low; DTC P0878: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch "D" Circuit High (FROM 08/2009): Procedure

CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0877 OR P0878)

Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

Result

Only "P0877" is output	B
"P0877 or P0878" and other DTCs are output	C

HINT:

If a solenoid is stuck OFF, DTCs for several solenoids including the malfunctioning solenoid will be detected.

CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)

Remove the TCM.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
20 (TPS2) - Body ground (Valve body assembly) or other terminals	Always	10 kΩ or higher

Result

NG	A

CHECK ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY (ATF PRESSURE SWITCH NO. 2)

Remove the oil strainer assembly.
Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
2 (TPS2) - Body ground (Valve body assembly) or other terminals	Always	10 kΩ or higher

NG → See step 10

OK → See step 6

CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE

Remove the oil strainer assembly.
Remove the TCM.

Disconnect the connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
20 (TPS2) TCM side - 2 (TPS2) sensor side	Always	Below 1 Ω
2 (TPS2) sensor side - Body ground (Valve body assembly) or other terminals	Always	10 kΩ or higher

OK: Go to next step

GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to REMOVAL
REPLACE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY

REPLACE TCM. Refer to REMOVAL

CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS

Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC / Clear.
HINT:

Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.
Perform the monitor drive pattern. Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN .
Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC.

Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
