DTC P0872: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch "C" Circuit Low; DTC P0873: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch "C" Circuit High (FROM 08/2009): Procedure
- CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0872 OR P0873)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
Result
Display (DTC Output) Proceed to Only "P0873" is output A Only "P0872" is output B "P0872 or P0873" and other DTCs are output C HINT:
If a solenoid is stuck OFF, DTCs for several solenoids including the malfunctioning solenoid will be detected.

- CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)
- Remove the TCM.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance

- CHECK ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY (ATF PRESSURE SWITCH NO. 1)
- Remove the oil strainer assembly.
- Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 (TPS1) - Body ground (Valve body assembly) or other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

- CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE
- Remove the oil strainer assembly.
- Remove the TCM.
- Disconnect the connector from the ATF temperature sensor assembly.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
- Refer to REMOVAL .

- CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC / Clear.

Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.
- Perform the monitor drive pattern. Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN .
- Enter the following menus: / ECT / DTC.
- Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
