DTC B241B: Front Height Control Sensor (To 08/2009): Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B241B is not output.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   8 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC "C1712/12 Front Height Control Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction" is not output.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS / Data List.
    4. Read the display on the Techstream.
      AFS

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Height Sens Pw Supply Val Height control sensor power supply value / 0 to 6.25 V Approx. 5.0 V -
      Fr Height Sens Signal Val Front height control sensor signal value / 0 to 5 V Approx. 2.5 V (When the vehicle is level) Value is changed according to vehicle height

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU 
    1. Temporarily replace the suspension control ECU with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to COMPONENTS .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B241B is not output.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → END 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A53 AFS ECU (headlight swivel ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the A55 suspension control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-17 (SHFL) - A55-23 (SHF2) Always Below 1 Ω
      A53-18 (SBR) - A55-22 (SHB5) Always Below 1 Ω
      A53-21 (SGR) - A55-21 (SHG5) Always Below 1 Ω
      A53-17 (SHFL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A53-18 (SBR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A53-21 (SGR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to AFS ECU (Headlight Swivel ECU Assembly))
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Suspension Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU 
    1. Temporarily replace the suspension control ECU with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to COMPONENTS .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B241B is not output.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → END 

  7. REPLACE AFS ECU (HEADLIGHT SWIVEL ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. GO TO AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC C1711: Front Height Control Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction; DTC C1712: Front Height Control Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction; DTC C1713: Rear Height Control Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction; DTC C1714: Rear Height Control Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction
