Turn Signal Light does not Illuminate: Procedure

  1. CHECK SWITCH FUNCTION 
    1. Check if the hazard warning switch and headlight dimmer switch operate normally.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Hazard warning switch and Headlight dimmer switch do not operate A
      Only headlight dimmer switch does not operate B
      Only hazard warning switch does not operate (w/ Navigation) C
      Only hazard warning switch does not operate (w/o Navigation) D

    D → See step   10 

    C → See step   8 

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TURN SIGNAL FLASHER - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.

    2. Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E19-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E19-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E19-4 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FUNCTION 
    1. Check the malfunctioning turn signal light.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      LH A
      RH B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TURN SIGNAL LIGHT - TURN SIGNAL FLASHER AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.
    2. Disconnect the A41 headlight connector.
    3. Disconnect the K4 rear combination light connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A41-2 (B) - E19-3 (LL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A41-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      K4-4 (TRN) - E19-3 (LL) Always Below 1 Ω
      K4-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A41-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-4 (TRN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK (Headlight does not flash) B
      OK (Rear combination light does not flash) C

    C → See step   13 

    B → See step   12 

    A → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TURN SIGNAL LIGHT - TURN SIGNAL FLASHER AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.
    2. Disconnect the A47 headlight connector.
    3. Disconnect the L3 rear combination light connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A47-2 (B) - E19-2 (LR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A47-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L3-4 (TRN) - E19-2 (LR) Always Below 1 Ω
      L3-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A47-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L3-4 (TRN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK (Headlight does not flash) B
      OK (Rear combination light does not flash) C

    C → See step   15 

    B → See step   14 

    A → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH (TURN SIGNAL SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the headlight dimmer switch. Refer to INSPECTION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      13 (TR) - 12 (EL) Turn signal switch right turn Below 1 Ω
      Turn signal switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      15 (TL) - 12 (EL) Turn signal switch left turn Below 1 Ω
      Turn signal switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (Headlight Dimmer Switch)

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH - TURN SIGNAL FLASHER AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E14 headlight dimmer switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E14-13 (TR) - E19-6 (ER) Always Below 1 Ω
      E14-15 (TL) - E19-5 (EL) Always Below 1 Ω
      E14-12 (EL) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E14-13 (TR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E14-15 (TL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   17 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TURN SIGNAL FLASHER - DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY) 
    1. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.
    2. Disconnect the F52 display and navigation module display connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F52-2 (HAZ) - E19-8 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      F52-2 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY (HAZARD WARNING SWITCH) 
    1. Temporarily replace the display and navigation module display with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5 .
    2. Check the hazard warning switch operation.

      OK

      Hazard warning switch operation is normal.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → END (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TURN SIGNAL FLASHER - MULTI-DISPLAY) 
    1. Disconnect the E19 turn signal flasher connector.
    2. Disconnect the F52 multi-display connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F52-2 (HAZ) - E19-8 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      F52-2 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY (HAZARD WARNING SWITCH) 
    1. Temporarily replace the multi-display with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5 .
    2. Check the hazard warning switch operation.

      OK

      Hazard warning switch operation is normal.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → END (MULTI-DISPLAY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  12. REPLACE HEADLIGHT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  14. REPLACE HEADLIGHT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 3 
  17. REPLACE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
