Room Light Control does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONDITION 
    1. Check the malfunction conditions.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      All conditions below A
      Engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG) → Engine switch off B
      All doors opened → a door closed C
      All doors locked → a door unlocked D

    D → See step   10 

    C → See step   9 

    B → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CONFIRM LIGHT POSITION 
    1. Check the malfunctioning dome light.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      No. 1 room light does not operate A
      No. 3 room light does not operate B
      Map light does not operate C

    C → See step   11 

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAP LIGHT - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 light connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R7-27 (+B3) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAP LIGHT - NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 and R12 map light connectors.

    2. Disconnect the R10 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R7-11 (ILLB) - 7 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      R12-18 (RILL) - 8 (CTY)
      R7-11 (ILLB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R12-18 (RILL) - Body ground

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the No. 1 room light with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check the No. 1 room light operation.

      OK

      No. 1 room light operation is normal.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/ Rear Seat Entertainment System) A
      OK (w/o Rear Seat Entertainment System) B
      NG C

    C → See step   11 

    B → END (NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT IS DEFECTIVE) 

    A → END (NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT IS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAP LIGHT - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 light connector.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R7-27 (+B3) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 3 ROOM LIGHT - MAP LIGHT AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the R7 and R12 map light connectors.

    2. Disconnect the R6 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R7-10 (+B1) - R6-1 (DB) Always Below 1 Ω
      R12-14 (RRVT) - R6-3 (DL)
      R6-2 (L) - Body ground
      R7-10 (+B1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R12-14 (RRVT) - Body ground

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK NO. 3 ROOM LIGHT (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the No. 3 room light with a new or normally functioning one. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 38 .
    2. Check the No. 3 room light operation.

      OK

      No. 3 room light operation is normal.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK → END (NO. 3 ROOM LIGHT IS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. GO TO COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH. Refer to  Interior Foot Light does not Illuminate  
  10. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  11. REPLACE MAP LIGHT. Refer to  REMOVAL
