Pattern Select Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 

    HINT: 

    ECUs that are correctly connected to the CAN communication system can be displayed on the Techstream.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ALL DTC CODE) 
    1. Check for DTCs of all systems by following the prompts on the Techstream screen.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs other than hybrid control system DTCs are output. B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. Lamp ECT PWR, Indicat. Lamp ECT SNOW.
    2. Check the condition of the pattern select indicator light by operating the Techstream.
      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Indicat. Lamp ECT PWR Pattern select indicator light (PWR) ON or OFF -
      Indicat. Lamp ECT SNOW Pattern select indicator light (SNOW) ON or OFF -

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The hybrid PWR and hybrid SNOW lights come on. A
      Either the hybrid PWR or hybrid SNOW light does not come on, or neither of them comes on. B

    A: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CENTER CONSOLE SWITCH) 
    1. Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / Center Console Switch / Data List / ECT Power Mode Switch, ECT Snow Mode Switch.
    2. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      ECT Power Mode Switch Pattern select switch (PWR)/ ON or OFF Pattern select switch (PWR) is:
      • ON: Pushed
      • OFF: Not pushed
      		 -
      ECT Snow Mode Switch Pattern select switch (SNOW)/ ON or OFF When turning power switch on (IG): OFF
      ↓
      Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
      Pushed: ON
      ↓
      Pattern select switch (ECT SNOW) is:
      Pushed again: OFF      		 -

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the pattern select switch operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the pattern select switch operation. B

  5. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  6. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  7. GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  8. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  9. REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
