DTC P3177-864: Transmission Oil Pump Motor Coil Temperature Sensor Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    6. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (OPM TEMPERATURE)
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / OPM Temperature.
    2. Read the data list.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      32°F (0°C) (open or short to +B) A
Approximately equal to the actual temperature B

    B → See step   5

    2. Disconnect connectors A74 and E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
E55-34 (TOPM) - A74-5 (E2) or Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-34 (TOPM) - A74-5 (E2) 68°F (20°C) 121 to 129.7 kΩ
      E55-34 (TOPM) - A74-5 (E2) 104°F (40°C) 50.49 to 55.01 kΩ
      E55-34 (TOPM) - A74-5 (E2) 176°F (80°C) 11.26 to 12.99 kΩ

    NG → See step   4

    OK → See step   7

  4. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY (OIL PUMP MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
    1. Turn the power switch off.

      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor temperature sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E64-1 (OMT) - E64-2 (OMTG) 68°F (20°C) 121 to 129.7 kΩ
