DTC P2797-865: Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Control Performance: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P2797-865 only is output. A
      P2797-895 is output. B

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE) 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read the freeze frame data (auxiliary battery voltage (+B)) of DTC P2797-865.

      OK

      +B is 10 V or more.

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Check if the DTC is output several seconds (approximately 3 seconds) after the power switch is turned on (IG) or the ST-on state occurs.

      HINT: 

      ST-on is a state that occurs when the READY indicator in the combination meter blinks after the power switch is pressed with the brake pedal depressed.

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope to the hybrid vehicle control ECU terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) or A78-6 (SI) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and oil pump motor controller connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (CHECK +B SHORT) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect connector A74 to the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A78-6 (SI) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → See step   21 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. Measure the frequency according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard frequency

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A78-6 (SI) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Approximately 1 kHz
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

      HINT: 

      Perform this inspection with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors connected.

    NG → See step   21 

    OK → See step   22 

  9. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connectors, confirm that they are properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connectors cannot be pulled out.

    1. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      For connector A, when connecting it, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - A78-6 (SI) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (CHECK GND SHORT) 
    1. Connect connector A74 to the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A78-6 (SI) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   21 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. Measure the frequency according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A78-6 (SI) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Approximately 1 kHz
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

      HINT: 

      Perform this inspection with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors connected.

    NG → See step   21 

    OK → See step   22 

  14. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connectors, confirm that they are properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connectors cannot be pulled out.

    1. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

  15. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the oil pump motor controller.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      U - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      V - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OHW - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OHV - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OHU - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OIGH - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OHG - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W - U Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      W - V Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      U - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      V - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      OHW - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      OHV - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      OHU - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      OIGH - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      OHG - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   23 

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. CHECK IF PART IS CORRECTLY GROUNDED 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Oil pump motor controller - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER 

    OK → See step   22 

  17. CHECK NOISE CONDITIONS 
    1. Check the waveform for an interruption or distortion.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      There are no interruptions or distortions in the waveform. A
      There is an interruption or distortion in the waveform. B

    B → ELIMINATE CAUSE OF NOISE

  18. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  19. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION 
  20. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  21. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  22. REPLACE OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  23. REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
