DTC P0868-866: Transmission Fluid Pressure Low; DTC P0868-894: Transmission Fluid Pressure Low: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0868-866 or P0868-894 only is output. A

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the transmission wire connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connectors, confirm that they are properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connectors cannot be pulled out.

    1. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      For connector A, when connecting it, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Check if there is an open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP) in the engine room No. 1 junction block.

      OK

      There is no open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP).

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (SL1 SOLENOID VALVE, SL2 SOLENOID VALVE AND SP SOLENOID VALVE) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 15 Ω
      E55-3 (SL1+) - E55-2 (SL1-) 68°F (20°C) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      E55-11 (SL2+) - E55-10 (SL2-) 68°F (20°C) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK RELAY (OIL PMP) See step   8 

    NG → See step   27 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A74-33 (OPST) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector and oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - A78-6 (SI) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A74-33 (OPST) - A78-7 (OPST) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A74-33 (OPST) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY See step   9 

    NG → See step   29 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) See step   10 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (SP2) 
    1. Disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-29 (SP2+) - E55-28 (SP2-) 68°F (20°C) 560 to 680 Ω

    NG → See step   20 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connector, confirm that it is properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connector cannot be pulled out.

    1. Check the connection of the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      When connecting the connector, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY) unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Disconnect the low voltage connector from the inverter with converter assembly.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A77-40 (MRF) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A77-29 (MRFG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A77-39 (MSN) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A77-28 (MSNG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A77-38 (MCS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A77-27 (MCSG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK MOTOR RESOLVER 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A77-40 (MRF) - A77-29 (MRFG) Power switch off 4.5 to 16.8 Ω
      A77-39 (MSN) - A77-28 (MSNG) Power switch off 9.3 to 27.8 Ω
      A77-38 (MCS) - A77-27 (MCSG) Power switch off 12.4 to 30.7 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  16. SIMULATION TEST 
    1. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor (MG2) Revolution, Output Shaft Speed, Output Shaft Speed Calculated by Wheel Speed.
    3. Perform a stall test and road test, and read the data list.

      NOTE:
      • Before inspection, sufficiently warm up the engine.
      • Make sure to perform this procedure after the engine has been inspected and adjusted.
      • Do not perform a stall test for 5 or more seconds.
      • Perform a stall test on an asphalt surface or other place with a high friction coefficient (μ) in order to prevent wheel spin.

      HINT: 

      • When performing a road test, the vehicle speed should be 22 mph (35 km/h) or more.
      • Avoid sudden acceleration and deceleration during a road test.

      OK

      The "Motor (MG2) Revolution" value in the data list changes normally. The "Output Shaft Speed" and "Output Shaft Speed Calculated by Wheel Speed" values should be almost equal with a vehicle speed of 22 mph (35 km/h) or more.

    NG → See step   25 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK: Go to next step 

  18. CHECK FLUID LEAKS 
    1. Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .

      OK

      There are no fluid leaks.

    NG → See step   28 

    OK → See step   26 

  19. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      E55-2 (SL1-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      E55-3 (SL1+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

    1. Check the connection of the transmission revolution sensor (SP2) connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  21. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission revolution sensor (SP2) connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E55-28 (SP2-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      E55-29 (SP2+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

  22. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (MOTOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the motor resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  23. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    1. Disconnect the motor resolver connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

  24. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  25. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  26. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  27. REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP). Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  28. REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  29. REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
