DTC P0867-880: Transmission Fluid Pressure: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0867-880 only is output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the transmission wire connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connectors, confirm that they are properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connectors cannot be pulled out.

    1. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      For connector A, when connecting it, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Check if there is an open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP) in the engine room No. 1 junction block.

      OK

      There is no open circuit in the fusible link.

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (SP SOLENOID) 
    1. Disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - Body ground 68°F (20°C) 11 to 15 Ω

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A74-33 (OPST) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and oil pump motor controller connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - A78-6 (SI) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A74-33 (OPST) - A78-7 (OPST) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A74-33 (OPST) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK RELAY (OIL PMP) See step   8 

    NG → See step   20 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY See step   9 

    NG → See step   22 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) See step   10 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  12. SIMULATION TEST (OIL PUMP MOTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Activate the Oil Pump (500rpm), Activate the Oil Pump (1000rpm).
    3. Select the following menu items: All Data / OPM Target Revolution, B2 Oil Pressure, OPM Revolution.
    4. Perform the "Activate the Oil Pump (500rpm)" and "Activate the Oil Pump (1000rpm)" active tests.

      OK

      "OPM Target Revolution" and "OPM Revolution" values are almost equal.

      NOTE:

      Make sure that the auxiliary battery is not discharged.

    NG → See step   22 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. SIMULATION TEST (HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Control the Shift Position.
    3. Select the following menu items: All Data / B1 Oil Pressure, B2 Oil Pressure, Line Pressure, Line Pressure Solenoid.
    4. Perform the "Control the Shift Position" active test.
    5. Switch the shift position between "Lo" and "Hi" several times using the "Control the Shift Position" active test.

      OK

      NOTE:

      Transmission system DTCs may be set if the "Control the Shift Position" active test is canceled before it is completed.

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK FLUID LEAKS 
    1. Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .

      OK

      There are no fluid leaks.

    NG → See step   21 

    OK → See step   17 

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - E61-4 (SP) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) or E61-4 (SP) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   19 

  17. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  18. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  19. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  20. REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP). Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  21. REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  22. REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
