DTC P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SENSOR SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor SW - P, Shift Sensor SW - R, Shift Sensor SW - N, Shift Sensor SW - D, Shift Sensor SW - RV, Shift Sensor SW - FD, Shift Sensor SW - MJ.
    4. While slowly moving the shift lever from P to D, and then back to the P position, read the data list (Shift Sensor SW) displayed on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      Make sure to move the shift lever slowly.

      OK

      Tester Display Shift Position

      Shift Sensor SW - P ON OFF OFF OFF
      Shift Sensor SW - R OFF ON OFF OFF
      Shift Sensor SW - N OFF OFF ON OFF
      Shift Sensor SW - D OFF OFF OFF ON
      Shift Sensor SW - RV OFF ON OFF OFF
      Shift Sensor SW - FD OFF OFF OFF ON
      Shift Sensor SW - MJ ON ON ON ON
    5. Check if DTCs are output.

      OK

      DTC P0705-757 is not output.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   5 

  3. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      E55-1 (+BS) - E55-17 (P) P position Below 1 Ω
      E55-1 (+BS) - E55-12 (MJ) Below 1 Ω
      E55-1 (+BS) - E55-16 (R) R position Below 1 Ω

      E55-1 (+BS) - E55-27 (RV) Below 1 Ω

      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-27 (RV) - Body ground and other terminals 10 kΩ or higher (*1)
      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-15 (N) - Body ground and other terminals N position 10 kΩ or higher
      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-12 (MJ) - Body ground and other terminals 10 kΩ or higher
      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-14 (D) - Body ground and other terminals D position 10 kΩ or higher (*1)
      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-26 (FD) - Body ground and other terminals 10 kΩ or higher (*1)
      E55-1 (+BS) or E55-12 (MJ) - Body ground and other terminals 10 kΩ or higher (*1)
      NOTE:

      *1: The resistance between terminals E55-1 (+BS) and E55-15 (N) should be between 4.2 and 5.2 kΩ.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   5 

  4. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      E65-7 (+B) - E65-1 (P) P position Below 1 Ω
      E65-7 (+B) - E65-4 (MJ) Below 1 Ω
      E65-7 (+B) - E65-5 (R) R position Below 1 Ω

      E65-7 (+B) - E65-6 (RV) Below 1 Ω
      E65-7 (+B) - E65-2 (N) N position Below 1 Ω

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  6. REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH. Refer to  COMPONENTS
